Parotocinclus haroldoi - (Garavello, 1988)
This line is bred by me in my Eugene, OR fishroom.
Wild-caught Parotocinclus and Otocinclus species routinely experience severe mortality rates during the commercial export process. They endure weeks in holding facilities without proper grazing material, leading to starvation and the irreversible collapse of their essential gut flora. Purchasing tank-bred stock eliminates this supply chain failure point.
These specimens bypass the brutal import process, are fully acclimated to standard captive water parameters, and have grown on high quality prepared foods including Bacter AE (essential), Repashy Soilent Green, and EBO Spirulina Sofgran.
Parotocinclus haroldoi is a dwarf suckermouth catfish native to the Parnaíba River basin in Piauí, Brazil. It features a mottled brown and gold pattern that provides excellent camouflage against sandy or rocky substrates. As an active grazer, it spends its time continuously foraging for aufwuchs and soft biofilms across the aquarium bottom and hardscape. Expect a maximum size of approximately 1.75 inches.
Ethically bred. Occasionally available.
